  • 1 lb thinly sliced ribeye or sirloin beef
  • 1 cup green bell peppers, diced
  • 1 cup sliced baby bella mushrooms
  • 1 medium sweet onion, chopped
  • 2 cups shredded provolone or mozzarella cheese
  • 8 slices hearty sandwich bread
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a baking dish with nonstick spray.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, melt 2 tablespoons of butter. Add onions, mushrooms, and bell peppers; sauté until soft.
  3. Stir in the beef until browned. Season with salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce.
  4. Layer half of the bread in the baking dish, add half of the meat mixture followed by half of the cheese. Repeat layers with remaining ingredients.
  5. Melt remaining butter and mix with garlic powder; drizzle over casserole.
  6. Bake for 30 minutes or until golden brown.
