  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20)
  • 6 slices thick-cut bacon, chopped
  • 1 cup finely chopped mushrooms (button or cremini)
  • 1 cup shredded Swiss cheese
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (plain or Italian-seasoned)
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ cup ketchup
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cook the chopped bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crispy; set aside on paper towels.
  3. Sauté chopped mushrooms in the same skillet until golden brown, about 5 minutes.
  4. In a large bowl, mix ground beef, cooked bacon, sautéed mushrooms, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until combined but not over-mixed.
  5. Shape the mixture into a loaf on the baking sheet and spread ketchup on top.
  6. Bake for about 1 hour or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C). Optionally, add more cheese during the last ten minutes of baking.
  7. Let it rest for ten minutes before slicing.
