Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2¼ teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
- ¾ cup whole milk (warmed to 110°F)
- ¼ cup sugar
- 4 tablespoons butter (melted)
- ½ cup purple yam (ube) puree
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 8 ounces cream cheese (softened)
- 2 cups powdered sugar
Instructions
- Prepare the Dough: In a small bowl, mix warm milk and sugar, then sprinkle yeast over top. Let sit until frothy (about 5 minutes). In a large bowl, combine flour, melted butter, and ube puree. Gradually add the yeast mixture and stir until combined.
- Knead: Transfer dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Rise: Place dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let rise in a warm spot until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
- Roll Out: Punch down the dough to release air bubbles. Roll out into a rectangle approximately half an inch thick.
- Fill: Spread melted butter over the dough; sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar mixture. Roll tightly into a log and slice into equal pieces.
- Bake & Frost: Arrange rolls in a greased dish; let rise again for about 30 minutes while preheating oven to 350°F. Bake for 25 minutes until golden brown. Mix cream cheese frosting ingredients until smooth; spread over warm rolls before serving.
