Description

Swedish meatballs are a beloved comfort food that combines juicy ground beef and pork, seasoned to perfection and smothered in a rich, creamy sauce. This dish is ideal for cozy family dinners or entertaining guests. The tender meatballs paired with a savory gravy create an unforgettable dining experience that will leave everyone asking for seconds.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20)
  • 1 lb ground pork
  • 1 cup plain breadcrumbs
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup low-sodium beef broth
  • 1 cup sour cream (or Greek yogurt)
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream (or milk)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the meatball mixture: In a bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, onion, garlic, eggs, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined.
  2. Sauté the meatballs: Heat butter in a skillet over medium heat. Shape the mixture into small balls and brown them on all sides for about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Create the sauce: Remove meatballs and add flour to the skillet, whisking until golden brown. Gradually add beef broth while whisking to prevent lumps. Stir in sour cream and cream until smooth.
  4. Simmer: Return meatballs to the skillet and let them simmer on low heat for 10-15 minutes until cooked through.
  5. Serve: Enjoy over egg noodles or mashed potatoes with fresh parsley as garnish.
