Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet (2¼ tsp) active dry yeast
- 1½ cups warm water (110°F)
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- ⅓ cup baking soda
- 1 tsp coarse sea salt (plus more for topping)
- 6 strips cooked bacon (chopped)
- 4 large eggs (scrambled)
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or mozzarella)
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine warm water and sugar; sprinkle yeast on top and let sit for 5 minutes until foamy. Stir in flour and salt to form a soft dough.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth. Place in an oiled bowl, cover with a towel, and let rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour or until doubled.
- While dough rises, cook bacon until crispy; drain and chop. Scramble eggs with salt and pepper. Mix bacon, eggs, and cheese in a bowl.
- Once risen, punch down the dough and divide into approximately 10 pieces. Roll each piece into a ball, flatten slightly, add filling in the center, pinch to seal.
- Boil water in a pot with baking soda; drop filled rolls in for about 30 seconds each before removing with a slotted spoon.
- Preheat oven to 425°F. Place rolls on parchment-lined sheets, sprinkle with sea salt, and bake for about 20 minutes or until golden brown.
