- 1 whole turkey (12–14 pounds)
- 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
- 6 cloves fresh garlic (minced)
- 1/4 cup fresh thyme (chopped)
- 1/4 cup fresh rosemary (chopped)
- 1/4 cup fresh sage (chopped)
- Zest of 1 lemon
- 2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 2 cups chicken broth
Instructions
- Prepare your workspace by clearing the kitchen counter and gathering tools: roasting pan, basting brush, and kitchen twine.
- In a bowl, mix softened butter with minced garlic, herbs, lemon zest, salt, and pepper until well blended.
- Remove giblets from the turkey cavity and pat dry with paper towels. Season inside and out generously with salt and pepper.
- Loosen the skin on the turkey breast and spread half of the herb butter mixture underneath.
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C). Place turkey in a roasting pan, tuck wings under the body, tie legs together with twine, and add broth around the pan.
- Roast for about 13-15 minutes per pound, basting every 30 minutes until skin is golden brown and internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
