  • 14 oz firm tofu, pressed and cubed
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup or honey
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp ginger, minced
  • 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Press the tofu between paper towels to remove excess moisture, then cut into cubes.
  2. Toss the tofu cubes in cornstarch until evenly coated.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Fry the tofu for 5-7 minutes until golden brown and crispy on all sides.
  4. In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, maple syrup (or honey), minced garlic, and ginger.
  5. Pour the sauce over the fried tofu in the skillet and stir gently for 1-2 minutes until well coated.
  6. Remove from heat and garnish with chopped green onions before serving warm over rice or noodles.
