  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup diced carrots
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 1 cup low-sodium beef broth
  • 2 sheets puff pastry
  • 1 egg (for wash)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef, breaking it apart as it cooks.
  3. Add onion and garlic; sauté until translucent.
  4. Mix in diced carrots and frozen peas; pour in beef broth and season with salt and pepper. Simmer for about 10 minutes.
  5. If desired, thicken mixture with cornstarch mixed with water.
  6. Roll out one puff pastry sheet into a greased pie dish, fill with the meat mixture, and cover with the second pastry sheet. Cut slits in the top for steam vents.
