  • 1/2 cup warm water (about 110°F)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 8 oz fresh mozzarella cheese, torn into pieces
  • 2 ripe tomatoes, sliced or crushed
  • Fresh basil leaves (to taste)
  • Sea salt (to taste)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix warm water and yeast; let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add flour and salt; mix until a dough forms. Knead for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  3. Let the dough rise in a warm place for at least 30 minutes.
  4. Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C).
  5. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 12 inches wide.
  6. Spread crushed tomatoes over the dough and sprinkle with salt.
  7. Distribute mozzarella evenly over the top.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes until the crust is golden and cheese is bubbly.
  9. Remove from oven, add fresh basil leaves, drizzle with olive oil, slice, and serve.
