  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)

  • 2 cups tart apples (peeled and chopped)
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and sugar; let sit until frothy (about 10 minutes).
  2. Mix in melted butter and eggs. Gradually add flour to form a sticky dough.
  3. Knead on a floured surface for 8 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled (about 1 hour).
  4. Prepare the filling by combining apples with brown sugar and cinnamon.
  5. Roll out the dough into a rectangle, spread the filling evenly, and roll tightly into a log.
  6. Slice the log lengthwise and twist the halves together. Place in a greased loaf pan to rise for another 30 minutes.
  7. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for about 40 minutes or until golden brown.
