Description

Southwest Turkey Burgers are a deliciously healthy twist on the classic burger, perfect for summer gatherings or quick weeknight dinners. Juicy ground turkey combines with black beans, smoky chipotle peppers, and fresh cilantro for a flavor explosion in every bite. Topped with creamy avocado and zesty pico de gallo, these burgers are sure to impress your guests and satisfy your cravings.

  • 1 lb ground turkey breast
  • 1 cup black beans (mashed)
  • 2 tbsp chipotle peppers in adobo sauce (chopped)
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro (chopped)
  • 1/2 cup whole wheat breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 avocado (sliced) for topping
  • 1/2 cup pico de gallo for topping

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground turkey, mashed black beans, chipotle peppers, cilantro, breadcrumbs, egg, cumin, chili powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined.
  2. Divide the mixture into six equal portions and shape into patties about one inch thick.
  3. Preheat your grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Lightly oil the grates or pan to prevent sticking.
  4. Grill patties for about six minutes on each side or until they reach an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
  5. Remove from heat and top with sliced avocado and pico de gallo. Serve on toasted buns or lettuce wraps.
