  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp freshly cracked black pepper
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 fresh red chili peppers, sliced (or 1 tsp chili flakes)
  • 3 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Rinse the shrimp under cold water and pat dry with paper towels.
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, cornstarch, salt, and pepper.
  3. Coat the shrimp in the flour mixture until evenly covered.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan to about 350°F (175°C).
  5. Fry the shrimp in batches for about 2 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  6. Drain on paper towels; sauté garlic and chili in another pan before tossing with fried shrimp.
  7. Drizzle with soy sauce mixed with sesame oil before serving.
